It was another week of food, friends, and pursuing my research. The perfect combination of what I love. So great to give presentations at elementary schools and in university classes. The Fulbright Finland connections are strong, and I was fortunate to visit some Fulbright Scholars in Tampere for the weekend. There I learned about the Finnish Civil War, visited multiple museums in less than 24 hours (including the Moomin museum :)), and talked shop. I will return in April to give a talk at the Finnish Teachers of English American Studies conference, and to visit more museums that weren’t open this time around such as the Lenin Museum. Oh, and to try the famous salmon soup from the Moro Bar atop the Torno Hotel. If it’s anything like the reindeer soup, I will be in heaven.
