Local Press

Let me say that I live in the best town in the United States.  Taos is known to be a funky, individualistic artist colony with a world class ski resort. Many people don’t understand how we can have winter weather and steep terrain in the desert, but then again the high desert belies many descriptions. Our little town of 6,000 (with 60,000 people in Taos County) builds me up. I have raised my three daughters here for the last 16 years and we all call it home. The 300+ days of sunshine outweigh any of the challenges and hardness of a fairly poor area with empty storefronts and struggling families. We come together to support each other, and this teacher feels the love every time I go shopping or see my students and their sweet families.

Needless to say, I was delighted to see my press release in our local paper, The Taos News. The best part of sharing my award information is asking people what they are interested in regarding Finland and how I can bring back information to help our community. So far I have been asked to look at how they deal with children who have experienced trauma and how they deal with refugees in the schools.
